Correspondence created mainly during the terms of Warren R. Lawson (1971-1979), George R. Pettersen (1979-1983), and Sister Mary Madonna Ashton (1983-1991). The letters and related papers document various operations and interests of the Health Department. Included is correspondence with state legislators and federal senators and representatives, letters received by the governor's office and forwarded to the Health Department for answer, and a number of files of assistant commissioners and office staff.
